Free and family-friendly evening of art and music! Take the stairs or the elevators to the second floor for museum galleries and live performances.
May 4, 2018: live performances by Nidaime Teishin Kai (Okinawan folk music) in the second floor Sculpture Lobby. The new Young Artists of Hawaiʻi: My Culture, My Family, and Me exhibit will be open, as well as HAWAIʻI: Change & Continuity; EMPHASIZED: eye on scale; and ACCESSION. The hands-on I Love Art activity area will also be open. Come and see some of the best contemporary art from across the state of Hawaiʻi! On the ground floor, the HiSAM Museum Gallery Shop x MORI will have an opening reception for their Art in Time art sale (a portion of their sales will go to the Jay Jensen Contemporary Art Acquisitions Fund at the Honolulu Museum of Art) and the Friends of the Hawaii State Art Museum will be hosting the Hawaii Master Artists Show art sale fundraiser May 4 – 5.
