May 2019

Temporary closure of Sculpture Garden due to renovation work.

Wednesday 05/01: Pau Hana Film Talk, Ciara Lacy and Beau Bassett. “Out of State” documentary film. 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Includes viewing a 55-minute version of the film. A collaboration with the HiSAM Museum Gallery Shop x MORI.

Friday 05/03 First Friday: a collaboration with the Honolulu Biennial and the HiSAM Museum Gallery Shop x MORI. Second floor: John Paul (harpist). Ground floor: DJ Mr. Nick, live painting by Lauren Hana Chai, opening reception in the shop for display of artworks for sale by Hawaiʻi Craftsmen members. Fashion show featuring pieces made by Hawaiʻi Craftsmen members.

Saturday 05/11 Second Saturday: “Patterns and Pinwheels” hands-on art activity. 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Wednesday 05/22 SFCA General Board Meeting, 11:00 a.m., ground floor Multipurpose Room

Monday 05/27 Closed for Memorial Day

Wednesday 05/29 Pau Hana Artist Talk: Lauren Hana Chai and Jodi Endicott, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. A collaboration with the HiSAM Museum Gallery Shop x MORI.

June 2019

Exhibits at HiSAM: HAWAI‘I: Change & Continuity (closes Saturday 6/08), EMPHASIZED: eye on scale, and STATE OF ART: new work; Young Artists of Hawai ʻi exhibit closes 6/28.

Saturday 06/01 Super Saturday front lawn concert: The Reminders, soulful sounds and roots music, and Izik, Punahele, and DJ Jeanne P. 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A collaboration with Shangri-La and The Popolo Project.

Friday 06/07 First Friday: Christian Besa Wright, Pop Wow School of Music, DJ Packo and DJ Shing02. Love+Monsters fashion show. Art demo by Luke Dekneef. HiSAM Museum Gallery Shop opening reception for Super Awesome Art Squad display of works for sale. 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Saturday 06/08 Second Saturday: hands-on art activity for all ages, activity to be announced. 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Saturday 06/08 Last day to view “HAWAIʻI: Change & Continuity” exhibit. New exhibit “In Hawaiʻi” scheduled to open in September 2019.

Tuesday 06/11 Closed for King Kamehameha I Day
