Museum Cafe and Shop
Grand Cafe & Bakery at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum
HiSAM welcomed the Grand Cafe & Bakery’s move to the historic No. 1 Capitol Building on February 11, 2013. Originally established in 1923 by TI Chong Ho, the cafe was relaunched by the original owner’s granddaughter, Mona Chang Vierra, and co-owner Patsy Izumo. Executive chef Anthony Kui Sin Vierra continues the family tradition by crafting updated versions of the classic dishes.
Weekday foodies have been enjoying Grand Cafe’s beloved entrees like the Cola Braised Short Ribs as well as lighter dishes such as the Tipsy Cranberry Salad. Diners in a rush can stop by their to-go counter for a cup of Missionary Chowder or affordably priced and whimsically named sandwiches. Grand Cafe is also open for Sunday brunch, serving favorites like Eggs Benedict, Bananas Foster french toast, and their specialty corned-beef hash.
The restaurant features food and recipes that reflect a Honolulu of the early 1920s. Enjoy fresh, tasty, seasonal foods, and warm surroundings in a special location in historic old Honolulu.
