SFCA leadership is meeting regularly with state legislators regarding culture and arts legislation.

Current Legislative Measures SFCA is Tracking

GM632, GM633 and GM 634: Relating to the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts Commission.  

Submissions for consideration and confirmation to the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts Commission, Gubernatorial Nominees. The recommendation of the Labor, Culture and Arts (LCA) committee is to ADVISE AND CONSENT to all the nominations.

HB1924: Relating to the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.

Appropriates funds to the State of Hawaii Museum of Monarchy History [Iolani Palace] and the State of Hawaii Museum of Natural and Cultural History [Bishop Museum], to be expended by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. The committee on FIN recommend that the measure be PASSED, UNAMENDED. 

HB2329 HD1: Relating to Historic Preservation.  

Requires the Department of Land and Natural Resources to place historical markers in the State to indicate significant sites in the life of President Barack Obama identified by the department, in consultation with the Hawaii Tourism Authority and State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. The committee on FIN recommends that the measure be PASSED, WITH AMENDMENTS.

SB 2077 SD1: Relating to the Hawaii Tourism Authority.  

Adds the Director of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism; Director of Transportation; Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources; Director of Agriculture; and the Executive Director of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts as nonvoting ex officio members of the Hawaii Tourism Authority board of directors. The committee on WAM recommends that the measure be PASSED, WITH AMENDMENTS. 

SB2731 SD1: Relating to the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum.

Appropriates moneys to support the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum. The committee(s) on WAM recommend(s) that the measure be PASSED, WITH AMENDMENTS.
