About the Grant-in-Aid
The Grant-in-Aid (GIA) supports eligible organizations and nonprofits in Hawaiʻi. Previous GIA applications and instructions are posted on the Hawaiʻi State Legislature website: capitol.hawaii.gov/session/gia.aspx.
The Hawaiʻi State Legislature makes appropriations for GIAs in accordance with Chapter 42F of the Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS). The Legislature decides who is awarded a grant, the type of grant, the award amount, what the funds can be used for, and which state department will administer said award.
Typically, applications are made available to the public in late December/early January and are posted on the Legislature’s website, capitol.hawaii.gov. Applications are usually due in mid-January. Please contact the Legislature’s House Finance Committee and the Senate Ways and Means Committee for more information.
SFCA is one of many expending agencies for GIA and handles the awarded grants that the Legislature assigns to SFCA for processing.
