  • University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Commons Gallery “We Found Where the Sun Sets: work by John Pule” exhibit featuring John Pule. “An accomplished painter, printmaker, poet and writer, John Pule is arguably one of Oceania’s most celebrated artists. Pule is inspired by the history and stories of Niue and his own experiences of movement and migration. As a form of cultural cartography, Pule’s imagery often adapts the layout, ​​patterning, and color palette of Hiapo, Niuean barkcloth, to present contemporary narratives of journeying within and beyond the Pacific.” Opening reception Sunday, October 6, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Exhibit open October 6 – 27, 2024.
