Hawaiʻi Poet Laureate 2026-2029

Nominations are open for the 2026-2029 Hawaiʻi State Poet Laureate. This program recognizes and honors a Hawaiʻi poet of exceptional talent and accomplishment and awards an annual grant of $25,000 to support literary programming throughout our islands. Self-nominations are accepted. The Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities, the Hawaiʻi State Public Library System, and the Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts invite the public to submit nominations.

Final application materials are due November 15, 2025. Nomination form and additional information are online: Hawaiʻi State Poet Laureate program.

SFCA Community Arts grants for organizations

SFCA Community Arts grant deadlines have been extended. The first part of the application, the Intent to Apply, is now due by October 30, 2025. The Community Arts Grants program (previously called Biennium Grants) supports eligible nonprofit 501(c)3 arts and culture organizations throughout the state of Hawaiʻi.

City & County of Honolulu 2027 Grants in Aid

The City and County of Honolulu, through its Department of Community Services, is soliciting applications from qualified nonprofit agencies for the Grants in Aid Program (GIA). Funding is anticipated to be available to support qualified public services to economically and/or socially disadvantaged populations or provide services for public benefit in the areas of arts, culture, economic development, or the environment.

  • Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) Seeks Grant Review Panelist Volunteers with a professional background in culture and the humanities to join our grant review panelist roster. Panelists must be Hawaiʻi residents with experience in Heritage & Preservation, Community Arts, Arts Education, and Presentation & Performing Arts. We encourage those with a background in Arts and Healing, Community Development related to arts and culture, cultural practitioners of all disciplines, and new and emerging members of the arts and culture community to apply.
