About the Artistic Teaching Partner

Artist Statement

My goal as a teaching artist is to offer meaningful lessons that foster creativity in students and participants of various abilities. I take them on a journey using the diversity of the Art and invite them to collaborate and create individual responses. They become proficient and built their knowledge of contemporary as well as art history. Looking at artworks and using visual teaching strategies, I center the conversation on the student’s perspectives where diverse points of view are valued and encouraged. Art explorations are conducted with meaningful projects connecting with core curriculum and school objectives. Art is a tool to connect and critically think on various topics such as the sciences, social and cultural issues. I am inspired by people’s reactions to discovery and seeing how they respond to the medium and art-making if given the opportunity. Some of the art residencies I offer can involve school-wide projects and reach out to diverse communities and multi-generations.
