Call for Artists – 2019 Young Artists of Hawaiʻi
The Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) and Hawaiʻi State Art Museum (HiSAM) are pleased to sponsor the 2019 Young Artists of Hawaiʻi Exhibition Competition. Hawaiʻi students in grades Kindergarten-6 are invited to participate in this competition, which offers them an opportunity to illustrate their vision of “My Culture, My Family, and Me.” The exhibition is presented by the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority.

All artwork submission and inventory forms must be completed by designated art teachers and sent to Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, postmarked or handed in by Friday, January 25, 2019. Forms and artwork submitted or postmarked after this date will not be accepted.

All submissions will be judged in-person. Please see guidelines for acceptable media, formatting, and labeling. All work not adhering to these Guidelines will not be considered.
An email notification of the art award nominees and instructions for the submission of selected artwork will be sent by Friday, February 22, 2019 to the nominees’ teachers.
Accepted entries will be displayed in the 2019 Young Artists of Hawaiʻi Exhibition from May 3, 2019 through June 28, 2019 at the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum in downtown Honolulu, 250 S Hotel Street, Honolulu, HI, 96813. The museum is open Monday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Admission is always free.
A replica of the 2019 Young Artists of Hawaiʻi Art Exhibition will be on display from April 2019 through March 2020 in the Pa Kamaliʻi Courtyard on the third floor of the Hawaiʻi Convention Center, 1801 Kalakaua Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815.
