School Year 2020 Artists in the Schools Grants

The SFCA Art in Public Places Program now funds AITS grants statewide. The goal is to increase students’ appreciation of, and engagement with, the permanent works of art at their school. Schools that have an eligible SFCA Permanent Work of Art (PWA) are eligible to apply. The emphasis for AITS APP PWA arts residencies is on interpreting the PWA by means of the art forms.

All public school and public charter schools statewide are eligible to apply for an arts residency grant annually. A residency consists of 5 to 8 or more sessions by the teaching artist with the same core group of students. The learning experiences must support the Fine Arts Standards from the Department of Education Hawai‘i Content and Performance Standards III. Schools must use a teaching artist from the SFCA’s Artistic Teaching Partners Roster. The roster is updated annually before each call for AITS applications.
