HB1378-HD2-SD1 has been scheduled for a hearing on Thursday, April 3, 10:00 a.m. This is a decision-making hearing and no oral testimony will be accepted. Written testimony will be accepted until Wednesday, April 2, 10:00 a.m.
Hawaiʻi Arts Alliance has provided sample testimony:
From a previous Hawaiʻi Arts Alliance action alert: “While HB 1378-HD2 includes some positive provisions, it ultimately threatens the long-term stability of arts and culture funding by dismantling the Works of Art Special Fund—Hawai‘i’s only dedicated, reliable funding source for the arts. Instead, it replaces this funding with federal and general funds, which are not guaranteed and will compete with other state priorities like housing, education, and healthcare.” Read the full action alert (March 10, 2025) from the HAA: Urgent Action Needed, Oppose HB1378-HD2.
