Shirley Lam, Capitol Modern Museum Education Coordinator, attended the Wai Fest at Windward Mall in May, which included 2nd and 3rd graders from Waiāhole Elementary (Kāneʻohe, Oʻahu) giving presentations on what they learned through the SFCA Hawaiʻi Open Arts education program. Each student had a presentation to share with the public, with topics including invasive and native species, limu, impact on storm drains, and how humans impact the ʻāina to the water cycle. The human impact presentation included a game that was also a quiz.

Hawaiʻi Open Arts (HŌʻĀ) has been 100% supported by public funds through the SFCA Works of Art Special Fund. Learn more about the program on the HŌʻĀ website: www.HawaiiOpenArts.org.
