Hawaiʻi State Art Museum new schedule as of August 2025

As of August 1, 2025, Capitol Modern: the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum will reduce open days from six days per week to four days per week. The previous schedule of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. will be replaced with Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The museum will also be closed on all state holidays.

Museum galleries will still be open during evening events, including First Friday and Friday Night Tempo.

  • First Friday: first Friday of each month, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.
  • Friday Night Tempo: third Friday of each month, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.
  • Capitol Modern event calendar: CapitolModern.org/events.

Closed for all state holidays

Capitol Modern: the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum will be closed on all state government observed holidays.

Free admission

Capitol Modern: the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum is part of a state government public art program. Admission during regular hours, First Friday, Friday Night Tempo, and Super Saturday will still be free.
